From this launch fail with the SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket, the money lost is unrecoverable. The damage done to facility needs lots of money for repairs. Another rocket is needed = more money.
The rocket alone is estimated at 62 million and the overall awarded money for the program is 278 million.
In 2011, SpaceX estimated that Falcon 9 v1.0 development costs were on the order of $300 million. NASA evaluated that development costs would have been $3.6 billion if a traditional cost-plus contract approach had been used.
In 2014, SpaceX released total combined development costs for both the Falcon 9 and the Dragon capsule. NASA provided US$396 million while SpaceX provided over US$450 million to fund rocket and capsule development efforts. Wikipedia
So much money goes into space and trying to reach mars or having people live on mars. My question is why move to mars ? isn’t the earth bountiful for all ?
With the money we can save from wars, military business, space business then we will have enough funds to have a 100% free energy based societies that are environmentally friendly. We can as well easily provide resources for all people, but it must be based more on grown resources, then slaughtered ones. Human beings have the mind and abilities to do greater things then reach the moon or mars even. They can create a heavenly earth for all people
